How tough is the GRE general test?
I’ll be taking the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) this summer and have heard opposing stories about its difficulty and about how easy it is. if you have taken the GRE, what do you think? tell me what you scored, how much preparation you put into it (if any), and if you’ve taken the SAT compare its difficulty to that.

The thing about the GRE is that it tests you to the limit of your ability. for every question you get right, it gets harder. Conversely, every time you get a question wrong, the test gets easier. That’s why the test is tricky. it is meant to be the most challenging test you’ll ever take because it works with your ability.
Now as for the SAT I didn’t study at all and was able to manage a 1250 on a 1600 pt. scale. for the GRE I didn’t prep math and did a vocab refresher and managed a 1400/1600.
I believe the GRE is the more difficult test because it tests you to the max. at least that’s how it is now. I don’t know how they do the SAT anymore, but since it was paper/pencil in my day, it’s easier.
With the GRE you can’t go back and answer a question you were stuck on, and you can’t review your answers at all because the test changes as you take it.

I think the verbal was a more difficult version of the SAT, and the math section was significantly easier. That, to me, made it feel about the same.
I’ve heard people say that you’re likely to get about the same score on the GRE as the SAT– if you took the old version on the 1600 scale, anyway. I am no exception: I got a 1410/1600 on the SAT, then a 1410 again on the GRE.
Prep time? I studied my butt off for the SAT. GRE-wise, though, I just did a vocab refresher (I read 100-200ish words in a GRE book) and took a couple practice tests.

Those who doubt Jeter’s greatness tend to compare him to the much-celebrated “five-tool” players with impeccable innate ability. in 2004, fans had an opportunity to directly compare him with the most notable of the five-tool players, Alex Rodriguez, when Rodriguez joined the Yankees. the Yankees, who had made the World Series the previous year, stumbled against the Boston Red Sox in the 2004 playoffs, failing to duplicate or improve upon the previous year’s success even after adding the widely-considered best player in baseball, Rodriguez.
When asked about this discrepancy, Jeter replied to a reporter:
“We just weren’t the same team.”
Those who criticize Jeter tend to cite as his “weakness” the fact that he’s surrounded by such great teammates that he succeeds in spite of himself, but as one of baseball’s most notorious winners, Jeter knows the value of teamwork even in such an individual sport. Sure, he might say, his greatness is significantly inspired by that of his teammates, but he’s also a contributing factor in the success of those individuals, too. Teamwork for the Yankees may make Jeter look better, put Mariano Rivera in position to record more saves, shield Jorge Posada from critical passed balls at catcher and allow Andy Pettite to throw fewer pitches and save himself for the postseason. would the Core Four of the Yankees be as successful individually? Maybe not, but they’d argue that they deserve credit for finding and maintaining such an ideal situation.
Build your team for success in October
If you’re applying for an MBA, you likely wish to be successful in October (the first round application deadline for most top programs) in New York City (on Wall Street, either where you’ll work or where your company’s value will be determined). Few have ever had October success in New York like Derek Jeter has, so learn from his example and surround yourself with a great team.
Those who achieve 700+ scores on the GMAT overwhelmingly credit their ability to maintain a productive, regimented study schedule as an important factor in that success. And those who study in groups — with friends, classmates, or the support of an online community — tend to not only maintain such a schedule and the enthusiasm to keep it up, but also have the value of thought-provoking discussion on the best ways to approach a topic or answer a question.
Simply put, you can benefit from studying with a team.
GMAT teammates can keep you accountable for your study schedule, provide you with new ways to think about problems, help you determine why you’re making certain mistakes, and force you to justify your thought process in conversation rather than allow yourself to be happy that you “guessed right.” much like study groups may have helped you get through difficult subjects in college, study groups can be integral factors in GMAT success. If all else fails, misery loves company, but most find that undergoing a challenging pursuit, be it the GMAT or the defense of a World Series championship, is more enjoyable and more successful when working with a team. Team up this spring, and celebrate this fall.

If you log onto the internet, ads touting the advantages of online schools are everywhere. they can help you earn a degree more quickly. they offer you flexibility. You can earn more money at your current job simply by completing your degree. it looks like a wonderful opportunity, but is an online degree for everyone? No.
I have just completed my online BA in Psychology through Columbia College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Like any form of schooling, the experience was not without difficulties and roadblocks from administrative and financial sources. Columbia College, like many of these programs, offers five eight week sessions per year, which is what drew me into the program in the first place, along with the promise that you can complete your degree faster than you would taking traditional classes. Most online schools crow about this. it is important to understand that this is NOT necessarily true. yes, you can complete the program faster if you have credits already, which would allow you to complete a land based program more quickly as well. Columbia College allows six credits per session. Six credits times five sessions is the equivalent of thirty hours per year, the same amount needed to graduate from a land based college in four years. I made the assumption that I could take a regular course load each session and was disappointed. Though I was granted permission to take an overload of nine hours at a time, I was expecting fifteen.
Online schools can also have various issues with federal funding because of the manner in which such funding is dispersed. in one semester, I could take only one course because the money had not yet been released due to the early start date of the session. No one could provide an answer as too how much funding would be available for me, so thinking I could take only one class I did so. The day after you could no longer sign up for classes funding was disbursed.
Once you understand these administrative pitfalls you must also take into account the nature of online education. Though you may be earning the same degree and using the same curriculum as a land based course, the experiences are undeniably different. this will be advantageous to some and detrimental to others. Online courses require a great deal of independence. Often, you are left on your own to learn. Professors may or may not participate in discussions or answer questions. there are often no lectures. Generally, you are provided with a syllabus and you complete it with varying degrees of feedback. in my experience there was very little feedback. in order to complete a program such as this it is imperative that you are self-motivated and that you have the ability and intelligence to teach yourself. You will do better if you are a visual learner than an auditory learner as there is virtually no auditory component. You must be able to write intelligibly and to communicate effectively through written words, as there is no face to face interaction.
Finally, you have to really ask yourself if you have time to complete the degree. Though the commercials and advertisements make it look as though the work is minimal and not al all time consuming this is generally a fallacy. Though I had some classes in which the work was all but nonexistent (just like in any other college situation), there were many classes that required twenty to thirty hours of effort per week. it is crucial to remember that many of these programs are accelerated. in the case of Columbia College, courses that are allocated sixteen weeks for completion in a regular setting are given only eight weeks for completion in an online setting. this means that there is roughly twice the reading and twice the work in each week in order to reach equivalency at the end of the course.
Online degrees can be a great choice for some people. For others they simply will not work. it is important to understand that the ability to go to school whenever and wherever you want does not erase the fact that you still must go to school.

First, you want to make sure your units match up. So if the room is 15 feet by 25 feet, how big is the room in square inches?
First, you convert 15 feet and 25 feet to inches. Since there are 12 inches in 1 foot,
15 feet = (15 feet)(12 inches/foot) = 180 inches.
25 feet = (25 feet)(12 inches/foot) = 300 inches.
So the area of the floor is (180 inches)(300 inches) = 54000 inches² (or 54000 square inches).
Now we want to know how many tiles it will take to cover the floor. Since the tiles are 10 inches by 10 inches, 1 tile covers (10 inches)(10 inches) = 100 inches².
So we divide our two numbers, the area of the floor divided by the area of the tile, and we get (54000 in²) / (100 in²/tile) = 540 tiles.
Now how many boxes of tiles do we need to cover the floor? Well, (540 tiles) / (25 tiles/box) = 21.6 boxes. Since we can’t by 0.6 of a box, we round up to get 22 boxes. then we multiply that by the price per box to get the price of covering the entire floor.
So (22 boxes)($60.00/box) = $1320.00.
Hence, the answer is E.
